Small-Group Day Trip to Stonehenge, Bath and Windsor from London

Our tour guide,Tony, was an absolute delight. He was funny and personable and made the trip very fun. I loved being in the small group of 5 travelers. Made it easier to get around than the tour bus full of people. Windsor castle was lovely, but be warned, no photos are allowed inside. Stonehenge was quite windy. And Bath was also lovely, even though when you exit the Roman Baths it looks like you stepped into an outdoor shopping mall. We just walked back to the from and had Gelato and enjoyed the scenery of the river and bridge.

We expected that we would receive "illuminating commentary from your guide," as stated in the "What to expect" section. I even called Viator to confirm that our guide would be providing information as we toured Stonehenge specifically, and I was told yes since it is a small group. This did not happen. We were given audio equipment at all three stops just like everyone else. To make it worse, our guide, Tony, directed us to start at the end of Stonehenge (counterclockwise), which we didn't realize initially. We didn't have a map to help, but others did and we figured out the spots by looking at theirs. Don't go backwards! Start at the beginning of the audio tour for Stonehenge so it makes more sense. Our first stop was Windsor Castle and we didn't expect Tony to guide us since it was an optional entrance. That was fine, Tony was entertaining on the ride to the first stop. He also got us near the front of the line to enter into the castle. Stonehenge was the second stop and Tony spent most of the drive there talking to the driver, Badger. Finally, there is no real time to eat unless you want to cut into your tour time. Tony recommended getting something at the end of our audio guided tour of the Roman Baths, and we could eat it in the van on the 3 hour drive back. He said just be sure to remove all trash. Other passengers had food and coffee earlier in the trip, but when our group was boarding the van after the last stop, Badger said we couldn't bring our food on. It was raining so we ran to the ice cream shop and ate as quickly as we could. It was not pleasant. Tony and Badger should have coordinated to make it clear what was permitted. We did get to visit all three stops in one day.

Everything was fine. Nice small group. But it would be so much better if the skipped Bath and had more time at windsor. You get about an hour at each stop and more than six hours of driving.

I researched our tours for a while, i.e value, comfort. I decided to go for a small group tour. More expensive but worth it. There were only 5 of us in the group so we basically decided where to spend more time and when to leave. Unlike complaints of not enough time to enjoy the sights. We had more than enough. We even had time for tea in Windsor. Our guide was good we went to Stonehenge first so we were first there. No lines. The Bath, still less people. Then Windsor where there was practically no line. If you are looking for tours, this is the way to go.

Our guide Katie was sweet & knowledgeable. She shared ample info, gave us breaks & flexibility. Although we left at 730 & we’re gone all day the pace was such that it didn’t seem like a long day at all. Effective way to fit in 3 sites outside of London.

Terrific guide Edward and driver Brian, made a long day enjoyable. Edward was very knowledgable about the area. If you are able to make the time to see Bath Abbey.

I booked this tour expecting an air conditioned bus and enough time to be able to go to Windsor Castle- neither of those things happened! On one of the hottest days that London has ever had- the air conditioning on our luxury Mercedes mini bus didn't work. The bus was sweltering, hovering at 80 degrees. At first it seemed the guide and driver just didn't know how to work the AC, later they claimed the AC was working but it was the German design of the mini-bus that was why it was blowing hot air. By the end of the day they finally admitted it wasn't working. At NO point did they offer us cold water, or any concession for being trapped on a hot bus. Nor did they attempt to contact their headquarters to arrange for us to get a bus with working AC. Not only were the conditions on the bus intolerable, the guide did not account for traffic when telling us what times to be back on the bus- as a result we missed the last tour of Windsor Castle by 5 minutes. The description of the trip says the ticket to the castle isn't included, but implies you will have enough time to go into the castle and also take a little tour of the town with your guide. After hours on a hot bus we didn't get to go to Windsor and were given only the briefest tour of the town- when I asked what else there was to see, since we were there for another hour- I was told to walk to the river and look at the royal swans...what an absolute waste! The guide told me that if i really wanted to see the castle I should go back another day on my own time and dime. He further admitted that that his happens to him at least once a month! I took the smaller group tour on the advice of my parents who took the larger bus and said they felt rushed. All I can say is at least they got to see everything and their coach was air conditioned. What a gross disappointment. And all I was offered as a refund was $18. The tour cost $187. I'd also like to note how unprofessional the driver and guide were- the bus driver remarked to a group of young women on the bus them that he had anti-anxiety prescriptions he could offer them-a joke that even the the women weren't sure was actually a joke. The guide meanwhile had two pints with a passenger who was celebrating his birthday. I don't know about you- but I don't drink while I'm on the job. Save your money- don't book with this company. Far away the low point of my vacation.

Guide and driver were already waiting for us when we arrived 5 minutes early. Nice clean comfortable vehicle. Guide was very knowledgeable and very easy to understand. Really enjoyed her commentary. Driver was very friendly and did a good job driving.Would definitely use again,

We had an excellent driver-Tony. Very knowledgable just wish we felt the same about the tour guide that was with us. Time at each site was a minimum of what you need- could have spent more time in Bath and Windsor

The tour guide and driver were both prompt very professional. The van was clean and comfortable. Our guide was quite knowledgeable about the sites we visited. Very nice tour.
